Turquerie

Turquerie is a womenswear collection inspired by the visual culture of the Ottoman Empire. The collection is composed of six silhouettes and ten custom made pieces, in sizes extra small to medium. Luxury materials such as jacquard, velvet and chiffon create colour contrast and fluidity, enriching simple shapes and clean modern lines. Layered fabrics of different density and opacity, together with stylized sleeves and ruffles, give the garments a sense of movement. Many stitches are sewn by hand, as the fabrics are delicate.

Interactions 2021

In a world of constant changes everyone is permanently looking for newness. From now on, buying a panel in a new color and fabric instead of a whole garment will give you the possibility to compose a new look.

Prints based on neuron and mesh geometry suggest spreading and blurring, so the outside world becomes harder to see and the mind can stay calm. Cotton and nylon mesh are sewn together to form a new texture that echoes the printed pattern. The garments follow standard men's measurements and can be worn as everyday clothing.

The designer's memories and works are all turned into colored blocks: Each rectangular with a unique pattern. Meng Ling interpreted these pixmaps into the structure of the garment, projecting the 2-dimensional image onto the 3-dimensional human body. The main point of the design is the dizzying color scheme and the unreasonable placement of images. The essence of glitch is to constantly break and reorganize, and find a perfect balance.

The dress and the loungewear top allow nursing without removing the wrap. Hand-painted bespoke prints are inspired by the nature of Fiji. The pieces are intended to be worn through the stages of motherhood.

Ethnic Fusion

The inspiration is derived from ancient Indian scribbles coupled with modern design sensibilities. The idea was to design a dress that can act as a comfy jumpsuit and at the same time gives a high fashion statement.
